Do invoice numbers have to be in order?
Unique and easy to trace is what matters: each invoice should have its own number so you and your customer can refer to it. A simple running sequence is the easiest way to keep it that way, which is why "One running number" is the default.
Where is my numbering saved?
In this browser on this device, never on our servers. Clearing your browser data or switching devices starts you fresh, so export your list now and then.
Can I add my own categories?
Yes. Turn on up to three dropdowns (say job type, client and area), name them, and add, rename or remove options any time, or pick "+ Add new" right in the dropdown.
